Nigerian football lovers went berserk after Manchester United announced the signing, on loan, of Nigerian forward Odion Ighalo in January 2020. Since the announcement, Ighalo has scored 5 goals in various competitions, with 22 appearances for the English side.
However, with the recent signing of Edison Cavani -the former PSG goal poacher, and the availability of other young attacking forces – Martial, Greenwood, and Rashford, it seems likely that Ighalo may only be getting playtime for the club during training sessions.
The head coach of Manchester United, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, is yet to give an official statement about Ighalo’s future. However, Fans of Manchester United on Twitter and other social media platforms already believe that Ighalo will hardly find himself in the squad this season.
A popular football page on Twitter, brfootball, even went as far as uploading a picture with the caption “Manchester United have serious attacking options" featuring, Cavani, Pogba, Rashford, Greenwood, Van De Beek, Bruno Fernades, Martial, and Rashford, without Ighalo.

Odion Ighalo has proven to be a hard worker over the years and we are certain that he would fight for his spot at the club. However, the final decision lies with the head coach and we can only hope that “Favour" works again this time.
