In the wake of the resurrected SARS harassment and killings, Wizkid, who hardly joins social media trends nor replies tweets, directly called out President Muhammadu Buhari on Twitter. The singer referred to the President as an “Old Man" while imploring him to stop the unlawful acts being perpetrated by members of the Anti-Robbery Squad Unit.
While most youths on Twitter applauded Wizkid for his bravery, a minute others condemned the singer. Leading the charge against Wizkid was a Personal Aide to the president, Onochie Lauretta.
The aide, via her Twitter handle, called Wizkid a “DumbKid" for addressing the President in that manner. She said wizkid wasn’t wrong for calling the President an Old man, but was wrong in his approach. In her tweet, she called Wizkid “Insensitive and Childish".
Responding to her tweet, Wizkid via his official social media handle said:
“lol a 77 year old man is not young ma.. You are a woman and a mother and kids are getting killed by police/sars and this is all you have to say? shame on you!!! shame on you!! I am a father and age has nothing to do with demanding for a better governance in my country!!"
Lauretta is yet to respond to Wizkid Personally. However, in response to the call for the ban of FSARS by Nigerians, the personal aide tweeted that “We can’t scrap FSARS".
