Dr Ebuka Onunkwo, a well-known philanthropist and the CEO of Seahorse Lubricants Industries Limited, has been selected the Industrialist of the Year.
The award was given to the humble and hardworking Ihembosi, Anambra State-born entrepreneur on Saturday at the Sun Newspapers Awards hosted at Eko Hotels and Suites in Lagos.
His partners fell bankrupt in February 2015, when he was still purchasing Engine oil from Turkey, and could no longer supply the commodities he had already paid for in the amount of $3.2 million.
This unfortunate incident turned out to be a gift in disguise, as the young importer shifted into manufacturing by establishing Seahorse Lubricants Industries in Ozubulu, Anambra State, Nigeria.
Seahorse Lubricants Industries has already received numerous honors, including the best oil of the year award in 2021 among others.
The Anambra born billionaire was judged a deserving winner of this year’s Sun Newspaper industrialist of the year award for these and many more entrepreneurial feats.
It’s worth noting that the winner of the new industrialist of the year award went from being a retailer to a wholesaler, then from a wholesaler to an importer, and finally from importation to manufacturing.
