6 times Balon D’or winner, Lionel Messi has parted ways with his boyhood club, Barcelona, and is now free to join another top-flight club elsewhere, but who’s taking the superstar?
Messi almost left the club last year after a falling out with the owners but had a change of heart and decided to see his contract out. But due to Barcelona’s financial status, Messi was not able to sign a new contract.
PSG are currently favorites to sign the 34-year-old Argentine, with a odds of 10/11 according to Betfair and Manchester City next, at 21/10.
Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: ‘The big transfer news just keeps on coming and all eyes are back on the future of Lionel Messi following the confirmation that he won’t be signing a new deal with Barcelona.
‘Reports last summer suggested that Manchester City were very close to signing him, and they are currently second-favorites at 21/10 to secure the services of the six-time Ballon d’Or winner.
‘However, it is French side PSG who are the odds-on favorites to sign him at 10/11, while Manchester United are outsiders at 18/1.’Betfair spokesperson Sam Rosbottom said: ‘The big transfer news just keeps on coming and all eyes are back on the future of Lionel Messi following the confirmation that he won’t be signing a new deal with Barcelona.
Let’s watch and see who splashes the most cash. Maybe Chelsea could get on the deal too.
