According to reports, Jack Grealish could be called as a witness in the Benjamin Mendy rape case.

The England international, who joined Manchester City for a world-record £100 million in August, was out partying with teammate Benjamin Mendy, 27, just hours before reportedly assaulting a female.

In August, both players, along with fellow City star Riyad Mahrez, went to Manchester’s Chinawhite nightclub.

Mendy, a World Cup winner with France, is accused of raping a 17-year-old girl later that evening at his Cheshire home. Between October 2020 and August 2021, he is charged with four charges of rape and one count of sexual assault against three alleged victims.

Grealish and Mahrez did not go to Mendy’s house on the night of the crime, and there is no evidence that either player was engaged.

According to a report by The Sun, authorities may question Grealish as part of their inquiry.

Grealish, 26, and Mahrez, 30, were spotted with Mendy on the evening of August 23 at Manchester’s members-only nightclub Chinawhite, according to the Sun.

Mendy allegedly raped a 17-year-old girl in his home in the early hours of August 23, according to one of the charges.

‘They started socializing at one spot then moved on to a handful of different venues throughout the night,’ an insider told The Sun.

‘However, Grealish and Mahrez did not return to Mendy’s house that evening.’

The World Cup winner was remanded in custody pending a trial scheduled for September 10 at Chester Crown Court next year.

Manchester City has also suspended the £52 million left defender, who joined the club from Monaco in France in 2017, pending the result of the criminal case.

Police investigating charges of sexual assault against Mendy have reportedly charged a second guy. “Riyad is not a witness and is not being treated as one," a representative for Mahrez told the Sun.

All of the alleged attacks are said to have occurred at his home residence in Prestbury, Cheshire, on Withinlee Road.

Cheshire Police have charged Louis Saha Matturie, 40, with four charges of rape. He is described as Mendy’s sidekick or ‘runner.’

On November 15, the two will appear in court before going on trial on January 24. ‘Riyad is not a witness and is not being treated as one,’ a representative for Mahrez told The Sun. Mendy is being jailed on remand at HMP Altcourse and will face trial soon.
