Mohamed Salah scored a hat-trick in Liverpool’s 5-0 victory over Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday, leaving Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hanging to his job.

United trailed 4-0 at halftime for the first time in Premier League history and failed to score in a terribly one-sided match. In the league, the Red Devils have now taken a one-point-from-a-possible-12 run.

The carnage was began by Naby Keita, who was quickly followed by Diogo Jota, who doubled Liverpool’s lead inside 15 minutes.

Salah subsequently seized center stage, scoring 15 goals in 12 games this season and becoming the highest-scoring African player in Premier League history in the process.

To finish off a disastrous day for United, Paul Pogba lasted less than 15 minutes as a second-half substitute when he was awarded a straight red card for a dangerous tackle that forced Keita to leave the game on a stretcher.

Liverpool’s first win in front of a home crowd at Old Trafford puts them back over Manchester City in second place, only a point behind leaders Chelsea.

United’s chances of winning the league for the first time since 2013 appear to be fading as they stay eight points behind the leaders.
