Abdulkareem Muhammed, 37, was detained with 32 litres of fuel concealed in three polythene bags and a travel bag by the Katsina State Police Command.

SP Gambo Isah, the command’s spokesman, who paraded the suspect in front of reporters at the Command Headquarters on Tuesday, said he was apprehended by officers on patrol along the Katsina-Jibiya route.

According to the PPRO, the suspect appeared to be traveling with clothes in a travel bag he was carrying, but officers uncovered three polythene bags holding 32 litres of petrol during an inspection.

The suspect, on the other hand, disputed that the goods were intended for bandits and instead were intended for resale in his town.

He also begged for forgiveness, promising to quit if he was let off the hook.
