Nearly 50 bandits were killed during a joint ground and air assault in the Saulawa-Farin Ruwa axis of Kaduna State’s Birnin Gwari Local Government Area, 

Samuel Aruwan, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, made the announcement on Tuesday, October 19.

A Nigerian Air Force helicopter gunship provided close air support to ground troops moving from the Dogon Dawa-Damari-Saulawa axis, according to operational feedback to the Kaduna State Government from the Command of the Joint Operations," he said.

Following intensive searches, bandits on five motorcycles were discovered waiting to ambush ground forces around 4 kilometers east of Saulawa. The helicopter gunship engaged them fiercely and wiped them all.

Following that, armed robbers on roughly 50 motorcycles were spotted running towards Farin Ruwa, and the gunship was able to intercept them. Ground forces snatched up fleeing survivors.

A second helicopter gunship joined the operation, and precision strikes neutralized several more fleeing robbers. During the coordinated operation, more than 50 bandits were neutralized, according to the assessment.

Governor Nasir El-Rufai expressed his delight with the operational feedback and praised the ground soldiers and gunship crews on their successful rout. He urged them to keep the momentum going and bring many more robbers to justice."
