At the age of 70, an Indian mother claims to have given birth to her first child.

Jivunben Rabari, who gave birth to her son with her husband Maldhari, 75, is said to be one of the world’s oldest first-time mothers.

They proudly showed the infant to reporters, claiming that he was conceived through IVF.

Rabari has stated that she does not have identification to show her age, but that she is 70 years old, making her one of the world’s oldest first mothers.

However, Erramatti Mangayamma, an Indian woman, is thought to be the oldest after giving birth to twin girls in September 2019 at the age of 74.

Rabari and Maldhari, who live in the little town of Mora in the Indian state of Gujurat, have been married for 45 years and have been trying for a child for decades. They were able to have a kid via IVF, which can be successful even after menopause. It was “one of the rarest situations I have ever seen," according to the couple’s doctor, Naresh Bhanushali.

‘When they originally came to us, we told them they couldn’t have a kid at such an advanced age, but they persevered,’ Dr Bhanushali added.

“They claimed that many of their relatives had done the same. This is one of the most unusual examples I’ve ever encountered."

In India, there have been multiple cases of women in their 60s and 70s bearing children using IVF.
