Frank Lampard, arguably Chelsea’s greatest player, is close to losing his managerial job at Chelsea. His failure to secure points is becoming worrisome to both the Chelsea board and fans.

Chelsea lost 1-3 to Manchester City yesterday, and anyone who watched the game would question most of Lampard’s decisions.

Lampard’s last win was against West Ham, which came after losing to Wolves, and Everton.

Frank Lampard was hired to take over Chelsea in 2019. The decision by Roman Abramovich was welcomed by millions of fans across the world.

Although Chelsea was faced with a transfer ban when Lampard joined the club, he still managed to finish 4th with a squad most people considered inadequate. This level of management promised a good future and the Fans were expectant.

Expectations grew higher after Chelsea spent €247.2 million in the previous summer to sign several world-class players.

Kai Havertz, Timo Werner, Ben Chilwell, Edouard Mendy, and Hakim Ziyech all arrived at Stamford at high costs. Thiago Silva also joined the Blues on a free transfer deal.

However, at the beginning of the 2020/21 season, Chelsea faced major injury problems. Hakim Ziyech was out before the start of EPL, and Christain Pulisic also suffered several injuries. The injuries continued around the team, leaving Lampard without a viable starting 11.

Nevertheless, every manager faces injury problems and Lampard needs to work around it.

Yesterday, Pep Guardiola played Kevin De Bruyne as a number 9 due to Aguero’s fitness and still managed to beat a strong side like Chelsea.

Lampard might have big plans for Chelsea but managing to secure a meager 4 points out of 18 points will only see him out of the door in no time.

Chelsea is not a club to give time to managers, and we don’t think they would be starting now, not after spending €247.2 million.
