These days, road accidents are becoming more and more rampant in the country. There’s no day there won’t be at least 10 road accidents.

Over the weekend, there was an accident in Otte, along Ilorin-Ogbomosho Road. Otte is a village in Asa Local Government Area, Kwara State.

Out of the 18 people (10 males and 8 females) who were involved in the accident, 4 persons lost their lives and 7 sustained very serious injuries.

Someone who was there when the accident happened said it was as a result of a collision involving a truck and a Toyota bus.

Upon investigation, it was discovered that the accident was caused by overspeeding.

While six of the injured victims have been taken to Kwara State General Hospital, Ilorin, the seventh person was taken to a private hospital also in Ilorin.

As for the four dead victims, their corpses have been taken to the Kwara State General Hospital by officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Nigerian Police Force (NPF).

It’s a well know fact that overspeeding is one of the major causes of accidents. What do you think can be done to change the situation?
