Alhaji Hassan Attahiru, the Emir of Bungudu in Zamfara State, has been released from his captors 32 days after his kidnapping.
On September 14, 2021, the monarch and several passengers were kidnapped by bandits on the Kaduna — Abuja road.
The emir’s family disputed rumors that he regained his freedom while still in custody a few days ago.
“The Emir of Bungudu (Sarkin Fulanin Bungudu) Alhaji Hassan Attahiru has recovered his freedom after 32 days in captivity," the emirate stated in a statement on Sunday. We thank everyone for their prayers and support on behalf of the family and Bungudu Emirate during this difficult time."
