After being captured on tape having sex at a historical monument, a randy couple was jailed.
On October 22, the amorous couple can be seen romping with glee on an antique pagoda in Thailand while being caught on a phone by enraged locals.
After a video of the event in Chiang Mai province circulated online, officers tracked down the couple and detained Sirirani 42 and her partner Chalerm 48.
Both suspects admitted to engaging in sexual activity in broad daylight near the historical site.
The two claimed to be ex-lovers who had no intention of rekindling their sexual relationship in public but found themselves in a passionate embrace when they met for a day trip.
Chalerm said: “I thought nobody could see what we were doing behind the structure as it looked hidden.
“I had no intention of disrespecting the historical site. I would like to apologise to the people of Chiang Mai and I promise it will not happen again."
Police Colonel Kittipong Phetchamunee said: “We found that the pair are ex-lovers from different cities but had arranged to meet up at the pagoda. After questioning, the pair confessed and apologized.
“The couple was charged with public indecency and will be fined no more than 5,000 Baht (£117)."
He further stated that district police were instructed to investigate abandoned locations in order to prevent “similar situations" from occurring in the future.
The pagoda was designated as a historic landmark by Thailand’s Fine Arts Department on April 22, 1986, however the location has since become a popular hangout for homeless people.
