I’ve tried to understand the ‘motivation’ behind rape. Like, there are so many oloshos out there. Some charging as low as five hundred naira sef. Don’t look at me laidat, goan ask na.

Men of the Nigerian Police force, Ogun State Command, aff arrested a man for allegedly kidnapping and raping his passenger.

The 32-year-old man, Tunde Bello, was said to have picked up the unsuspecting passenger, a 29-year-old woman around 5 am from Ogunrun Road, Mowe, Ogun State. He was supposed to drive her to Lagos State where she works.

But, instead of doing that, he drove her to a bush along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, beat her, raped her, and even released her only after he collected a ransom.

In the words of DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the state Police Public Relations Officer;

“The victim had on September 17, 2020, reported at Mowe Police Station that while she was going to her office on that day, she boarded a Hyundai car at about 5 am from Ogunrun Road, Mowe to Lagos.

But, on getting to Mowe Junction, the driver of the car made a detour to Ibadan road and drove her to a bush along Lagos-Ibadan Expressway where he beat her mercilessly before forcefully having carnal knowledge of her.

After raping her, he held her hostage and asked her to call her relations to send N140,000 to him as ransom before he will let her go.

She stated further that she had to call her brother who transferred N140,000 to her account. She also transferred to an account given to her by her abductor before she was released.”
