Liverpool buffs were thrown in a pool of excitement after rumors linking Sergio Ramos to the club emerged on the internet a couple of weeks back.

With Van Dijk on injury, Ramos would have given the other outfield players the confidence to attack without the threat of suffering a counter-attack.

Unfortunately, it was only a rumor. Nonetheless, Liverpool managed to sign 2 professional center-backs, Ben Davies from the EFL Championship side, Preston North End, and Ozan Kabak from Schalke 04, before the close of the Transfer Window.

Ben Davies is on a permanent deal while Kabak is on loan until the end of the year, with an option to buy for £18 million.

Ben Davies, a 25-year-old defender, is experienced as a Center-back and left-back, making him a utility player, just like David Alaba.

Although Ben Davies was a Preston player before his Liverpool move, the Center-back barely stayed in the club as he was constantly shipped off on loan to other English clubs.

Liverpool and Preston agreed on a sum of £1.6 million for the player, with £500,000 coming now, and £1.1 million in performance add-ons.

Ben Davies has completed his medicals and has been confirmed fit to join the club immediately.

Both Davies and Kabak will be thrown straight into action, seeing as Matip, Gomez, and Van Dijk are all on injuries. While Davies is coming from 11th place Preston, Kabak is coming from last place Schalke, with 8 points from 19 matches.

Are both Davies and Kabak good defenders? Well, deducing from their previous jobs, it’ll be hard to defend Kabak. But, both players are not solely responsible for their individual teams’ troubles.

We wish them Goodluck in the English Premier League.
