In London, a 14-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of a five-year-old youngster.
The adolescent, who has not been identified by police because of his age, will appear before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court later.
Logan Mwangi, also known as Logan Williamson, was discovered dead in the Ogmore River near Pandy Park in Bridgend at 5.45 a.m. on Saturday, July 31, after police were contacted to a complaint of a missing kid.
He was rushed to the town’s Princess of Wales Hospital, where his death was confirmed.
Logan’s stepfather, John Cole, 39, has been charged with murder after being discovered with many injuries.
Perverting the course of justice has also been filed against Cole, Logan’s mother, Angharad Williamson, 30, and a boy.
‘Detectives investigating the death of five-year-old Logan Mwangi from Sarn, Bridgend, have charged a 14-year-old boy with murder,’ a spokeswoman for South Wales Police told MailOnline.
‘He will appear before Cardiff Magistrates Court this morning.’
Logan was in a nursery class at Bridgend’s Brynmenyn Primary School, where he was adored by both students and teachers.
After his death, his mother Lois Shepherd, 25, left a cuddly toy baby shark picked by her four-year-old daughter Maisie-Rae.
She said at the time: ‘I’m just shocked and gobsmacked – the is such a small community everyone is feeling the pain of what happened.’
Messages left at the river bank also included: ‘Fly high Logan, sending love and kisses,’ ‘RIP angel’ and ‘Thinking of you.’
In August, a tearful mother of two who travelled two miles to the scene remarked ‘I didn’t know the little boy and his family but I felt I had to come.

Logan was discovered on July 31 in the River Ogmore in Sarn, Bridgend, according to an inquest opening.
Logan had been formally identified by his grandmother Claire Williamson, according to coroner’s officer Lauren Howitt at the Pontypridd hearing.
A post-mortem examination was performed, but the cause of death was only given as a provisional cause pending further study.
