While the religious community has been largely silent, since the EndSARS protests broke out early last week, Pastor Sam Adeyemi, one of the foremost Pentecostal pastors in Nigeria has lent his voice to the struggle that has seen few people being killed and a lot of people being tear-gassed in what is being defined as an awakening moment for the Nigerian youths.
Pastor Sam Adeyemi, who dropped several tweets late Saturday, 10th October, 2020 condemning the use of force on peaceful protesters by the Nigerian police has received appreciable responses from many on the social media platform, Twitter with many also urging other religious leaders to speak out against SARS and police brutality.
https://t.co/W6M7Hq6Qcm is totally unacceptable for the police to fire teargas at young citizens attending non-violent #ENDSARS protests. We cannot sustain the idea that the voice of the African youth is not to be heard.
